This excellent app is a must for all SEN teachers as it allows students to practise fine motor manipulation such as pinching and finger sequencing which are good exercises to do before beginning handwriting or typing activities. The students enjoy the exercises in particular the pinching activity which makes the crabs disappear
The cost of the app is €3.99 on the Apple App store but €22.14 on the Google Play store. I am unsure why there is such a price difference as the apps have different names on the stores, on Apple it is called Dexteria – Fine Motor Skill Development and on Google Play it is called Dexteria – Stroke Rehab Aid but the content appears to be the same. I couldn’t see any difference. Another con is the handwriting activity is too difficult for younger children. This has been rectified with Dexteria Jr App. That said I would recommend this app on the Apple store.
Quality of learning content
User friendliness (incl. Support)
This is an excellent app for students struggling with fine motor development and it helps to develop the students dexterity exercising different muscles on the hand. The app is customised to each student’s hand. It tracks individual profiles and continues from where a student left off. It has a reporting structure with speed and accuracy tracked and the time taken to complete an activity.
